Listening again has become a hobby here in the Beautiful South and tonight was no
exception as I was tuned into Radio 4 BBC to listen to a programme about China and its relationship with the US and with Taiwan and the
excitement in China about the impending
Olympics coming up soon. In this fervour of excitement I received a draft
contract describing
life in China at a Chinese University/Xinyang Normal
University and it is jolly
exciting to read a contract after an absence of 3 years.
It would be even more exciting if one could go there but one has to buy one''s
airline ticket and I could imagine it costing a fortune ... still my family assure me
that you can travel practically from Moscow to London for about 30 quid so if that''s the
cost then even I can afford it ... it would be marvellous as it would be wonderful to
write and see China before the light is finally extinguished in my life ... I have met
people and colleagues who have visited China and I know a lot of the Chinese
Community in Ireland would be thrilled if I actually got to go to China.
The excitement of the World Olympics would start up when I would have my
contract in place and it would be fine to be on salary again ... its like the
birth of utopia a dream state created by friends abroad to get me out of
miserable Britain with floods, heatwaves, bad times, poor houring, low
income families and much worse the sense of being trapped in a ghetto
of the mind and body ... well I will keep you posted and who knows, God willing
my next abstract may well be from China ...
Excellent stuff - keep on reading the blogs ...
