Do you know what its like to be famous ... well I became famous because
I worked at a Turkish Language School in Turkey
during one of the major
world earthquakes ... I as much as I ever do, walked up and down the
streets in Turkey late at night and early in the morning. To the sounds
of street life ... off I went on my /day off/ to the market and bought in
plenty ... fresh tomatoes, potatoes and many other goodies from the
stalls. In fact my colleagues accompanied me and they in turn
stuck their heads down and bought Fresh Fish Pasta and underwear
and woolley jumpers ... we had, all told, a truly Turkish experience.
However, at night or at the end of the week we all went out to the ritzy
parts of Eskisehir and had dinner at a simply smashing fish restaurant and
ate salads galore and drank bottles of water and finished off the meal
with a cup of Turkish coffee.
It wasnt until much later that same year that the big Turkish earthquake
struck and the whole place fell around our heads ... I could think of
nothing but the immediate and how to solve this one .. the water jars at the
school cafe were shaking vigorously and I began to believe that I would
die the "Turkish way" under rubble and that nobody need worry about where
my mortal remains would be laid ... my Insurance Company wouldnt be able to fly my corpse out to Ireland England or even send IT to London .. nobody would
recognize me and I and my Turkish friends would be finished, forgotten and
part of the earth''s
natural cycle forever.
However, always look on the bright side of life ... I was rescued and to this
day I still receive simply beautiful attachments and films from Turkey about
the countryside there with its ever flowing
waterfalls and natural beauty of the landscape is something that I hold to in its constant and ever changing environment. WIll I go back to Turkey ... I have been invited ... so will keep you posted ... excellent blogs from
Turkey and Turkish Language School ... keep on reading the blogs ... great stuff!
