As the years continue to pile on to my past I read tonight a blog on
the late Princess Grace known as Grace Kelly Film
star from America ...
She was an icon of her day and her clothes and odd bits are to be
sold with a view to drawing attention to the life and career of
Princess Grace of Monaco ..
She was known originally as Grace Kelly and had many friends among
the film stars of her day such as David Niven and Cary Grant ... she was
held to be a great beauty and she captivated her public with her much
publicised marriage to Prince Ranier of Moncao ... she is survived by
her family ...
Some of Grace Kelly''s heirlooms are interesting and I remember the
occasion at 10 years old watching the
engagement of Grace Kelly to
Prince Ranier of Monaco and her engagement ring was unique ... it was
an emerald and set in diamongs. This ring apparently will appear at this
planned auction of Grace Kelly''s things ...
Her films are of great note and I bought one recently on DVD /To Catch a Thief/
its very amusing and Grace Kelly drifts about the sets of the film as she was
born to the part ... inevitably it led to her Royal experience and becoming
"Royalty" herself.
She was a great icon for us children as everything about her wardrobe was
held to be "
perfect" ... I won a talent competition at the local convent dressed as
Princess Grace and everyone thought I looked the part ... later I was to play
the major role in the show "The Stammering Princess" and my dress was to
stretch as long as two streets, well possibly in my imagination but not in
reality.
All good news ... and may everyone enjoy a little bit of nostalgia going back in
