Yesterday saw me meeting a friend for lunch and as I was in the library I discovered sideways on that Alan Bennett Video is available on loan from your local library .. though I must admit its good when Alan Bennett and his great plays and writing are broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 or 4 as in recent times ...
I picked up the Times and saw a little bit of news about Alan Bennett sometime ago and apparently he has been a great success in America as a playwright and won a prestigious prize recently. The other gem in relation to Alan Bennett is his obsession with
teachers and teaching and some of his plays focus on the subject of education.
I must admit as a teacher I am chilled to the bone to have my profession run down in a caricaturing way or a lowdown cut across the choppers about the stereotypical teacher who has bags under her eyes, or a fat bottom, or much worse that flat footed look that so many dedicated members of the Profession go in for ...
I have tried throughout the years to maintain a high profile of glamour and won a prize in London recently and was selected as Gloss Prize Winner and as a result I got a free photo shoot, makeup and hairdressing and use of the Gloss Photographic Studio in Margaret Street, London and then I received a photgraph large size of my own choosing at a discount rate which made it eminently affordable for the teacher retired or part time or lady poet/teacher pay packet .... the photograph itself belies all caricature or stereotyping of a negative nature and I look truly wonderful ... very beautiful ... even I must admit that.
So Alan Bennett I admire your great talent but I am now in your line of writing and look forward to great success in playwriting ... for the 1st prize and prize money ... great plays breed great playwrights!
