It was time to welcome in the New Year and all across the world everyone was tuning into Tim Rice and the Abba Programme on BBC Radio 2 on New Years Day ... Tim Rice introduced the enormous list of Abba hits and I believe Abba won the Eurovision Song Contest in the 1970s and its a long time since they recorded that win. According to Tim Rice its over 25 years since that big event and the core of the music of Abba seems to be
retrospective not that it matters a great deal to the permanent Abba fans that exist throughout the world.
Abba and a member of the group was recorded on the history and career of Abba and apparently they are honoured in Swedish as a Swedish Pop Group.
In fact around 1974 I was living in America so oddly enough I heard very little about
Abba as I suppose around that time I had other plans and games to play in and
around San Francisco. In fact, its interesting that they should be so strong because
in California it was very much post sixties groups that were all the rage such as The Doors and Beach Boys and of course Bob Dylan! But then you cannot be in two places at once.
Tim Rice went onto to discuss the cover versions of Abba songs with great relief and approval. I bought Abba DVD and there are major hits on this DVD but "Happy New Year" Abba song isnt one of them so it was enjoyable to hear that Abba hit as well. Great listening on BBC Radio 2 with Tim Rice on Abba The Swedish Pop Band ...
