Much is made of the
relationship between
mothers and sons and women are held to a convention of caring more about sons that
perhaps /the man/or husband or partner . its an old chestnut but one that is often kicked back at everyone.
Mothers and Sons .. is a condition where the
relationship endures in spite of the invention of the press ..and of course Mother gets pushed out - naturally - when the sons introduce the wife ... but in more senses than one I believe that the Mothers & Sons notion endures throughout the lifetime and habits and friends connect with this point of view.
In fact all of we, Mothers & Sons recently had a "get together" and we compared notes as Mothers & Sons ........we all simply as Mothers love our sons ......... theme for a poem:

The sorrow and pain
To see the world again

Endure speedy recovery
