Houssay Park, a Ciencia Under
blog, is one that reveals the hidden side of
scientific investigation. Its entries assume the form of
articles. Some of these articles are parodies of the
news articles published in the newspapers. Others are true works about how science is thought from inside, from deep inside, since the early days of one''s career. Even though it may not be the first blog in Spanish, it is indeed one of the few that speaks the truth and write with total knowledge of what it''s saying. The first
Article about the role of Internet in scientific communication is perhaps the most sincere and sensible in the blog. On another note, the announcement of the "Asociación Argentina para la Mediocridad Científica" (Argentinian Association for Scientific Mediocrity) and its recommendations about the dangers of creativity indicates a certain resentment towards the most conservative parts of the Argentinian scientific community. On the other hand, the note about the
finding of the Homo Sucutrulis, clearly inspired in the "The Onion" articles, is a big point of interest for the news fishers (stealers?). With no need to be clarified on the blog, any news man with character will try to confirm the information before telling anything and ridicule themselves. In this blog weird images are also published. The Bahía de San Cristalón, which, seen by afar, looks like a satellite night
picture of a fishing town, could in fact be something much smaller (probably crystals in the microscope). The Homo Sucutrulis also makes an appearance to illustrate the article about its finding. The picture that comes with the header is unspeakable. It is an ideal site for those who are thinking about starting a career in the scientific investigation, so that later on they cannot say they didn''t know what they were getting themselves into.
