Its Holy Week and I thought I would dash off to Church and sort something out with GOD, but there were other more pressing
issues on my desk when I woke this morning .. the death of a friend or the world news of subsquent deaths stopped me in my tracks.
By the time I got to the New Yorker
Cartoon I was in a maudlin frame of mind and to my surprise the whole ethos of the cartoon was the "Muslim Woman" all decked out in her Islamic outfit .. head to toe as we used to say at Image Magazine in Dublin in 1994 .. and she has nothing but a slit for her eyes to see out .. so what am I to make of it all .. she has to be taken out of that outfit and put in something modern and
suitable for todays living ..... but she cannot do it .. because its against her Muslim tradition. Where do I come in ... I have seen similar situations in Christian Society but supression being what it is I can offer nothing more than we see in the New Yorker Cartoon .. so we get her out of his outfit for it and buy her new and suitable clothes I guess .. she needs a whole new wardrobe .. thanks for comic cartoons in the New Yorker .. keep on blogging.
