High Rise
Apartment Living - Upper or Lower Floors
In today''s urbanised society many of us finds ourselves living in a
High rise aprtment instead of a big landed house often with garden. This is especially true in cities where people may live in an apartment in the prestigious
city centre, city fringe or on the outskirt suburban area. Living in city centre means living near office, leisure, shopping and entertainment venue often with bustling
night life. Suburban living means having to commute to office via private cars or mass public transport which is often the tube or the train.
Living in high floor apartment offers exclusivity as most of the
noise and traffic is at ground level. Some high rise apartment provides unblock panoramic view of scenery often of the sea, hills or parks. Many buyer are willing to pay a premium for high floor apartment because of the view. However, living at high floor also present some inconvenience with the main issue being the lift access. The lift is often crowded during early morning business hour and late evening when people return from work which often means a long wait for the lift for high floor resident. The other problem is when the lifts breakdown. This may mean having to walk down or in a worst case walk up many stories of stairs to reach home.
Living in
Low floorw apartment offers convenience but requires a great deal of patience and tolerance. Staying at low floor often means one do not have a view outside the window which is often starring into another high rise building. Low floor resident may also be subjected to unwanted objects thrown from upper floors which lands in the lower floor units such as tissue paper or shoes. Noise from the ground floor may also be a nuisance. However, living in low floor comes with convenience as one may opt to take the stairs rather than wait for the lift.
Living in high rise apartments means living with neighbours whether next door or on different floors. It is an increasingly common way of living in today''s urbanised society.
