discovered all sorts of places across the world and tells the story thus ...its simply wonderful to discover through Alan Whickers amazing
travel writing and broadcasting the places and venues you would not have discovered were it not for Whickers world of incisive shooting of film and the telling of the travel stories.
Funnily enough there I was waiting at Dublin Airport over ten years ago with a man in a mac and another man .. flanked by two gentlemen .. the man on my right was my "then" partner and we were standing waiting for the arrival of our youngest son from Manchester University and it was a tight squeeze .. the man in the mac on the other side of me said ..
"Its 'hush" "hush" hideway .. Alan Whicker is here to stay" and sure enough out of the shadows of Dublin Airport, Ireland jumped a photographer and snapped the three of us waiting for the arrival of the flight from Manchester Airport UK to Dublin Airport Ireland .......... and there was a whisper going around the place at the time ... that Alan Whicker had arrived in Dublin as well as our son! What a coincidence ... its a true story but then I am a poet as well as a long tale
