Gruman’s petition aims to persuade Microsoft Corporation
from pulling out the Windows XP operating system from stores on June 30. The
petitioners also want Microsoft to continue providing tech support to XP users.
Pulling XP from stores would leave Microsoft’s new operating
system, Windows Vista, on the market. Buyers would have no choice but to
purchase new computers using Vista.
Visitors to the blog, especially those fed up with Vista, are encouraged to sign the online petition.
Visitors may leave comments, most of which detail their experience and
frustration with Vista.
The petition followed widespread complaints about Vista: mainly, its incompatibility with many
applications, too many security alerts, required large memory space to operate,
new features that users found confusing.
Some petitioners charge that Microsoft has become a bully by
pulling XP from stores, thereby in effect forcing the public to buy an inferior
product while making a profit. Many have threatened to switch to Apple machines
or use Linux.
