Soccer Idol Search - Teenage Gladiators who speaks little English
The season is coming to a close for most Soccer competition including the English Premier League (EPL) which is heavily televised worldwide. The talent scout would be searching every corner of the world including the continent of South America, Africa and Asia for the next soccer star. The discovery and grooming of a successful teenage soccer star would bring fame and reward not just to the teenager but also the scout, the coach, the team and even the country which for EPL would be England. Some of the teenage stars currently playing in EPL includes C. Ronaldo (Manchester united), F. Fabregas (Arsenal) and F. Torres (Liverpool).
One of the first criteria for the next soccer star would be youth. As soccer especially the EPL is physically challenging a young player would be more adaptable to the demanding schedule which may include playing every 2 to 3 days in a stretch. Further as a person grows and mature their physical fitness level may decline over time. A young player would thus have a longer lifespan of productive games compared to a more mature player. David Beckham may be idolised during his teenage days but as he grew more mature there is no choice but to leave competitive Europe and play in the secondary America's league.
A second attribute a soccer star must have is the physique od a gladiator. Ideally they should be able to run like a chariot and sprint like a cheetah. Ball skill is usually useful but it can be further trained. A physically fit youth is better suited to the physically challenging soccer competition, especially EPL, where many matches are play in stadium with capacity of 30,000 or more under adverse weather and conditions - much like a gladiator fighting for their lifes in the awesome and hostile colosseum.
Due to demographic changes, more and more of the teenage soccer stars came from countries where people do not speak English. South America, especially Brazil and Argentina, produce many young soccer stars such as Anderson and Tevez who speaks little English. The African continent produce many physically fit teenager such as D. Drogba and M. Essien who are keen to play in EPL but who speaks little English. Many of the soccer stars in the EPL currently came from South America, Africa and non-English speaking European countries such as Spain and Portugal.
As the EPL continue to attract television viewers worldwide as well we spectators, the hunt for the next soccer star for the clubs became critical. Having a soccer star playing for them may bring success in the form of finishing among the top 4 in the Premier League and winning the UEFA Champions League. A teenage soccer star who could achieve that would definitely be well sought after worldwide even if they do not speak a word of English.
