Short Sightedness - Dilemma of Spectacle or Lens or Lasik Surgery
Short sightedness in the past has always been associated with the elderly. However, in today's globalised rat race for real-time knowledge, many people constantly search the internet, watch television, read books and newspaper for information. Many people read or study with incorrect posture and under insufficient lighting. Over time this may lead to the problem of short sightedness where they have to wear glass spectacles or contact lens in order to read. Some celebrity such as Elton John are famous for their colourful spectacles.
Short sightedness is increasingly common among the educated young and especially in Asia. In many asian university it is not uncommon to find more than half of the students wearing spectacle. Some character do look cute in glasses such as Harry Potter in the novels. Wearing glasses in many asian countries is no longer associated with the elderly.
Being short sighted creates many inconvenience for the spectacle wearer. They are not able to read or see far without glasses or contact lens. The image without glasses or contact lens are often blur. It also limit the physical activities that they can perform. They may find it inconvenient to do sports such as swimming where they have to remove their glasses. Certain jobs requires the applicant to have near perfect vision such as pilot and navy diver.
Lasik or laser surgery is an increasingly common way to treat short sightedness via technology. With lasik surgery the patient may be able to have improve vision even to the extent of not having to wear glasses or contact lens after undergoing the treatment. Specialised doctors provide lasik surgery and is widely accepted in western countries.
Wearing glasses can make a person look cute just like Harry Potter although it comes with many inconvenience. For those who wants to read without glasses or contact lens there is good news via the option of lasik surgery due to advancement in technology.
