Author who is to face trial in the Turkish Courts on a count of blasphemy and offensive and inappropriate language in
relation to his published work on "
Daughters of Allah".
The author in question if Nedim Gursel and if convicted Gursel faces a year in jail because of the offence taken in relation to his novel ... "Daughters of Allah" the particular critic of his work relates to
Islam and violence and stories about the Prophet Muhammed and his wives and the Koran ....A public letter was addressed to the Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and the comment was made that this trial could influence Turkey's accession to the EU! Similar trials have been taken in Turkey against Turkish intellectuals and authors including Nobel Prize Winner for Literature Orhan Pamuk whose trial caused international protests!
