site that makes astonishing revelations seem innocuous, and understated. Nancy lets slip that she is just finishing her third novel sound like a request to pass the salt. There are some neat provocative comments. Nancy prefers the original Battlestar Galactica to the
new remake series; Her appreciation of her family is very prevalent. Whole sections of the Blog are about the exploits of her children, including the crime event in which one of them is caught knocking over and ruining a large cake, with photographic evidence to aid the conviction… There are humorous stories like the dog that ate her new boots, and serious observations, such as her sorrow at news of a murder. Much of the site focuses on the difficulties of writing, keeping her weight down and her athletic training regime. What shines through is the twinkle of
good humour. The Blog means a lot to Nancy, who often apologises for missing a
day of
writing for it. Nancy attacks Internet scammers, and those who phish for cyber sex, send out virus warnings and hoaxes and even offer her penis enlargement treatment despite her being a woman. Wry, and philosophical,
Liedel is often disparaging about her own writing, asking questions like ‘who writes this Crap? Her work is far from crappy. Her sense of being fat gives echoes of Bridget Jones, though the blog pages will be a useful archive for her sons one day capturing each day in time capsule immortality far better than a photo album alone could achieve, The title of the web blog has no real explanation, but it reflects the quirky good nature of the site neatly enough. The site is well archived, with lots of links worth looking at too.
