but before he made a
successful career in
insurance, his first encounter was a disaster in first of his three months. He came from a poor family of six and grew up with nothing. He started working at the age of 17, he just earn four pesos a day, then later he transferred to Civil Service Commission and became a casual clerk and earn six pesos a day, after a few months there he found out that his boss a lawyer, just earning three thousand pesos a month, he told to himself that this is not the kind of life I wanted, I was tired of being poor. Soon he invited to attend a seminar in insurance at PhilamLife, he met the manager there and he was able to put up a business on his own, buy his own house, and able to send his children to study in best schools, he told to himself that if he could to do it, perhaps I can do too. So he resigned to his job, and started as an underwriter and attends seminars, but it was too hard for him at first because no one believe to him to buy any policy, his relatives and friends are also poor, and those people older than him wouldn’t believe also because they thought he was too young. One client rejected his pitch and told him you looked unkempt, and your shoes are worn out, your selling trust but you looked someone who couldn’t be trusted. So he takes that as advice and also he realized that he was right, then he improve his appearance and gain more confidence so that the clients would feel that I can be trusted. After that, he started to gain clients trust and buy policy from him. In 1973, he became an agency manager, he started to train agents he was the fastest to rich that position and no one has been able to beat the record since, and now he has a business on his own and his wife has been there all the way, without her help I can’t be successful. If you want to start a business of your own, and you don’t have much capital, insurance is the business for people who don’t have money to start on their own.
