Rajiv DuttaPresident As President of PayPal, Rajiv Dutta is responsible for building PayPal into the global standard for digital payments. PayPal enables any individual or business with an email address to send and receive payments online securely, easily and quickly. In 2006, PayPal processed more than $38 billion in total payment volume.
Prior to joining PayPal, Mr. Dutta was President of Skype, eBay''''s online voice communications business. Skype is the world''''s fastest-growing Internet communication company, allowing unlimited free voice, video, and instant messaging communication between Skype users. With over 136 million registered users, Skype is available in 27 languages and is used in almost every country around the world.
Mr. Dutta joined Skype from eBay, where he was Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure as CFO, eBay''''s market capitalization increased six-fold, revenue grew from $750 million to $4.5 billion, and the employee base grew from just under 2,000 to nearly 12,000 employees. Mr. Dutta also served as Chief Strategy Officer for the company and led the New Ventures Group, which oversaw eBay''''s entry into the global classifieds market and the acquisition of Shopping.com. Mr. Dutta joined eBay in 1998.
Prior to eBay, Mr. Dutta was the worldwide sales controller for KLA-Tencor, overseeing the sales finance function for the company''''s global operations. Prior to KLA-Tencor, Mr. Dutta spent 10 years at Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., where he held a variety of positions including group controller of the Life Science Group, the largest manufacturing group in the company.
Mr. Dutta received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors from St. Stephen''''s College, Delhi University in India, and a Master of Business Administration from the Drucker School of Management, Claremont Graduate School, California.
Ryan D. DownsSenior Vice President, Worldwide Operations Ryan D. Downs has served as Vice President of Operations since September 2002. Mr. Downs joined PayPal in December 2001 and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operations. From June 2000 to December 2001, Mr. Downs served as Chief Executive Officer for eTopia Technologies, Inc., an Omaha-based IT consulting firm. Before that, Mr. Downs was a partner at the law firm of Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott in Denver, Colorado, where he specialized in complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Downs earned a B.S. in Agricultural Sciences in 1991 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1994.
Salvatore J. GiambancoVice President of Human Resources and Administration Salvatore Giambanco has served as the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration since July 2000. Mr. Giambanco joined PayPal in January of 2000 and previously served as the Director of Human ResPal, Mr. Giambanco worked for KPMG where he served as the NationManager for the Information, Communications, High Tech, and Entertainment Consulting practices, in addition to directing KPMG Consulting''''s Collegiate and MBA recruiting programs. Previously, he was the Director of Human Resources at TechOne, Inc. and was at Ernst and Young and ESS Technology, Inc.
Mr. Giambanco received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University in New York City, an M.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University in the Bronx, and an M.Div. from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California.
Mary M. HentgesVice President of Finance Mary Hentges has served as Vice President of Finance since joining PayPal in February 2003. Prior to joining PayPal, Ms. Hentges served as the Global Infrastructure and Customer Operations Controller for Agilent and as their Assistant Corporate Controller before that. Previously, she worked in various executive capacities at Hewlett-Packard where she led the financial aspects of their 1999 spin-off and IPO of Agilent Technologies. Prior to joining Hewlett-Packard, Ms. Hentges spent 13 years in the audit practices of Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse.
Ms. Hentges earned a B.S. in Accounting in 1981 from Arizona State University and became a Certified Public Accountant in Arizona in 1984.
John D. MullerVice President of Legal, General Counsel John Muller has served as Vice President of Legal and General Counsel since October 2000. Prior to joining PayPal, Mr. Muller was a partner at the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, specializing in finance and regulatory compliance. Previously, Mr. Muller practiced law at Shawmut National Corporation, a multi-state bank holding company, and at the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Mr. Muller serves as the Co-Chair of the American Bar Association Joint Subcommittee on Electronic Financial Services and served as the chair of the California Bar Association Financial Institutions Committee.
Mr. Muller received a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
