Other ads that work well in the top of the page are the banners or the 'half banner' sometimes even better than the leaderboard (pardon anglicized therefore not as would be translated into Spanish these terms) since they are smaller and could combine more with the page, but it all depends on your experimentation. I can not tell how to place ads on your pages, but other than what I have said, a general rule is you have to do the best to make the ads do not appear to ads.
For example, I visited a page lso ads placed within a black color, and next to the ad placed an image of a half-naked girl, haha, it certainly draws attention, and as the announcement was one of the ads 'animation' gave the impression that the animation was part of the contents, I realized it was an ad until I saw an icon of a letter i in the bottom of the ad and when you put the mouse over it, leaving the label of "ads by Google ".
Surely this ad has a very good CTR. I've seen pages that put arrows pointing to the ads, if that is not effective, but worth a try. Remember that you can do whatever you want in terms of design and position of the ads provided no animes readers to click, you should never under any circumstances to even mention to your readers from your adsense ads.
This applies to adsense, affiliate links for you to reveal that you make money if they buy the product (eg a page of 'Disclosure') and if you can encourage readers to give click, but they are two different systems, in the first case, you win only by the click and the latter need to make a purchase
