If you are a foreigner in India and do not know any local language in India, and your budget is limited to subscrib a digital TV, go for Tata Sky. Why?
In Tata Sky Company, they give you a freedom to choose the channel on a la carte basis. There is a price for every Channel. So if you know only English language, just subscribe English Channel, minimum subscription is Rs 150 pm. In that price you can subscribe from 15 to 20 channel all in Englis language.
In traditional way, without a la carte basis, you have to choose a predefined package starting from Rs 150 pm. With this predefined package you have 160 channel or more with around 4 channel in English. If you upgrade the package it becomes around Rs 200 pm with around 10 channel in English Language. If you subscribe all channel it become around Rs 300 pm. Even though there is an add ons system in Reliance Big TV for example, still it is a small-small package you can add to base package (Rs. 150 pm). There is no completely freedom to choose the channel you wish to watch.
Another advantage of this Tata Sky is that anytime you can modify your channel subscription. For Example from tomorrow there is A Wolrd Cup Football for 3 weeks, just subscribe ESPN channel for that three weeks. And so on. Enjoy your Tata Sky digital TV.
But you have to be patient when you subscribe for Tata Sky. In my case I bought a Tata Sky digicomp on Saturday, and the seller said Sunday the will do installation, but Sunday no installation, Monday no Installation, Tuesday no Installation, Finally Wednesday the installed my Tata Sky and did the activation, after everyday I callled them and finally told them if you don't install my Tata Sky tomorrow I will cancel my subscribtion.
The installer ask Rs. 100 extra for cable more that 12 m (standard installation) because they forced me to put the dish on the roof even I asked them to put the dish on Balcony (become 25m). The installer said please don't tell anybody that I receive Rs 100. Haaaaa :)
