I have been using the Sony Ericsson T610 for the past two years and I must confess the bond is growing stronger by the day with me having no intentions of changing it for the moment. This cell was awarded the best GSM phone a couple of years back and it deserves the honour every bit.
Sony Ericsson T610 is an incredibly light cell phone weighing just 95 grams. It is sleek and it reminds one of a chocolate bar and I am tempted to say it is just as sweet.T610 fits beautifully in my shirt or trouser pocket.
This cell is a show stealer when it comes to looks. The hazy aluminium and black finish is clearly the best among its category and makes one’s jaw drop at the look of it. It is also available in metallic blue and volcanic red casings. However I own silver and am biased towards saying, “silver rocks”. The casing though looks very delicate, is quite sturdy and has withstood the many brutalities that my cell has gone through in the last two years without any major damage.
T610 has a very ergonomic design and the interface is very user friendly. It has controls even on the side panel that functions as shoot button for the camera and joystick enabling the user to take his/her own picture. These buttons also act as substitute to the joystick and they come handy when joystick goes bonk. The mirror attachment at the back of the phone is a nice innovation.
Though not clearly in the smart phone segment, where most of the PDA’s come under, T610 incorporates most of the features that is required by everyday user. On The wireless front, it has Gsm triband, GPRS, Infrared, Bluetooth which ensures hassle free connectivity and transfer of images. The in built JAVA software will tickle the taste buds of gaming enthusiasts and the pre loaded game of GOLF is a pleasure to play.
The display screen is of 65000 colours is simply awesome and does complete justice to the many vibrant themes .
It is a sheer joy to watch.
Sony Ericsson is miles ahead of all other cell phone manufacturers when it comes to the 32 bit polyphonic speakers. What more, DJ music composer software also allows you to create your own ring tones. Cool isn’t it?
The organizer and calendar on the phone is feature rich and is ideal for the man on the move.
However, there are a few shortcomings and there is a definite scope for improvement in the T610. The camera is very basic in nature and performs poorly in dim light. T610 could do with a built in flash like most of the SAMSUNG’s cell phones.
The 2 mb memory space is just not adequate these days and scope for an extendable memory card is warranted for.
The keys are very plastic to feel and the joystick is not upto the mark. A lot of dust accumulates in and around the joystick and requires cleaning from time to time. It is irritating when the joystick keeps pestering you often.
The talktime is very poor compared to the NOKIA cell phones and Sony Ericsson has some serious thinking to do on this front.
All in all, T610 is a pocket dynamite of a performer with incredible styling, great screen and very user friendly. It comes across as a true all rounder and I am convinced about one thing. “My next cell is also going to be a Sony Ericsson”
I wish a day comes when T610 comes loaded with a Mp3 player.
