EXACT INTERVIEW
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS < GPO, GPC & GPT> :
What is a GPO, GPC, and GPT?
Ans : A GPO
is a group policy
object. Group Policy configuration settings are contained within a GPO. You
establish group policy settings in a GPO that you apply to a site, domain, or
OU. GPOs store group policy
information in two locations: a GPC and a GPT.
A GPC, or group policy
container, is an Active Directory object that contains GPO properties and
includes subcontainers for computer and user group policy information. The GPC
contains the class store information for
application deployment. The Windows
2000 class store is a server-based repository for all applications, interfaces,
and application programming interfaces (APIs) that provide application
publishing and assigning functions.
A GPT, or group policy template,
is a folder structure in the system volume folder (Sysvol) of domain
controllers. The GPT is the container for all software policy, script, file and
application deployment, and security settings information. The folder name of
the GPT is the globally unique identifier (GUID) of the GPO you created.
