To connect to a Wi-Fi LAN, the computer must be equipped with a wireless network interface controller. The combination of computer and interface controllers called the station. All stations share a single radio frequency communication channel. Transmission on this channel is received by all stations within range. Hardware does not indicate that the use of wifi users is delivered and is therefore called the best effort delivery mechanism. A carrier wave is used to transmit data in packets, referred to as "Ethernet frame". Each station is always tuned to the radio frequency channels of communication available to pick up transmissions.
Internet Access
Device Wi-Fi-enabled can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. Coverage
of one or more (interconnected) access points - called a hotspot - can
be expanded from a small area like a room as large as many square miles.
Coverage in larger areas may require a group of access points with overlapping coverage. Public outdoor Wi-Fi technology has been successfully used in wireless mesh networks in London, England.
Wi-Fi
provides services in private houses, high street chains and independent
businesses, as well as in public spaces in Wi-Fi hotspots set up
well-fee-free or commercial. And business organizations, such as airports, hotels, and restaurants often provide free hotspots to attract customers to use. Enthusiasts
or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business
in the selected area sometimes provide free Wi-Fi.
Router
that combines a digital subscriber line modem or cable modem and Wi-Fi
access point, often installed in homes and other buildings, providing
Internet access and internetworking to all devices connected to them,
wirelessly or via cable. With
the advent of MiFi and WiBro (portable Wi-Fi router), one can easily
create your own Wi-Fi hotspot to connect to the Internet via cellular
networks. Now Android, Bada, IOS (iPhone), and Symbian devices can make a wireless connection. Wi-Fi can also connect the places that usually do not have network access, such as kitchen and garden shed.
