JAKARTA - The company manufactures a large information technology from Taiwan, Foxconn, saw Indonesia as a
strategic country in the world's third number. Therefore, this company will invest up to IDR 100 trillion in
the long run.
"Basically they have to classify us as a strategic country in the world's number three," said Trade
Minister Gita Wirjawan in an iftar with the reporters, the Office of the Ministry of Trade, Jakarta, Tuesday
(14/08/2012).
Gita explains, Foxconn has previously invested in Brazil, India, to China. In Brazil, investments mentioned
reach 10 billion U.S. dollars. Now, Foxconn is the number of employees has reached 1.3 million people
targeted Indonesia as a place to invest.
The plan, the company will begin production in late December of this year. Target of 3 million mobile
phones per year to be generated.
Foxconn will also hold local companies to work together in producing a number of electronic goods. Gita
says, investors have been talking with state-owned company PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (INTIi).
Foxconn also mentioned going to talk with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk and private companies such as
Polytron and the Cosmos. "It's local partner, it's up to them," he said.
Overall, the Gita says, the investment made by Foxconn in the medium to long term could be 5 billion-10
billion dollars or about IDR 50 trillion to IDR 100 trillion. In the future, Foxconn is not only producing
electronic goods. The company also will build the smart city.
"Smart city that is not contrived in us too," said Gita.
