We are keen to walk down memory land and look forward to winning prizes but every now and then we are stopped in our tracks
by the success of years ago .... for example tonight Associated Press blogged with the commentary of the American Film Director Michael Moore and his amazing win at Cannes Film Festival in 2004. Michael Moore received the Palme d'Or Trophy for his film ...
Fahrenheit 9/11 ... and there is a wonderful shot of Michael Moore climbing the steps to receive his much deserved prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 years ago.
It reminds me of my own small steps towards receiving awards and that sort of glitzy success in poetry... I won : in 2004: The Silver Pen for Poetry in Ireland, awarded by Europa Hotel, Belfast, Northern Ireland for my winning poem/Trick or Treat! When! the muse comes it affects all of us.
But the odd view that I was somewhere outside the circle is absolute rot .. I got lots of invitations to attend Glitzy Functions in Ireland ........ even from the illustrious Michael Moore .. but that was "then" - in 2004 and this is now! Invitations these days are few and far between but they have been reduced to a positive flood to a tiny trickle .. but they stepped up the pressure and guess what!
I got an invitation to Poetry Symposium in Las Vegas, USA on Poetry .. July 2008 ... as my poems have led to my, Nomination: as: Poet of the Year selected by poetry.com in America! Wow! Great work all round the world . keep on working and doing those life skills for salary! See you soon! Thanks AP! And again, Congratulations! to the Fab! Michael Moore all the way from America!
