This morning I started my ... Teach Me Turkish bank holiday off to a flying start and was pleasantly surprised to receive
a blog from Turkey ... dare I say it .. Musical Interlude .. and it was in black and white and is broadcast through my Real Player.
Further investigation proved I could appreciate it and its in Turkish but I must admit the comic nature of it took my fancy and let me tell how this happened. The scene is set in 1934 in a parlour of a house somewhere in Turkey .. and the musicians are all gathered for an evenings entertainment with all the suitable musical instruments beautifully laid on .. suddenly their musical interlude is rudely disrupted by a group of Armed Men who enter the premises and hold their guns at the heads of the musicians and their supporters . .. and they are totally silenced by this menace! The view is that they are playing traditional Turkish music but the Armed Men read out a list of Classical European Musicians such as ...
Bach, Chopin, Beethovan, Mahler, Verdi, Chopin, and Wagner and centred - for special attention is Mozart! And they repeat in Turkish in Turkey and Turkey is pronounced as follows ...

The musicians give way to the Armed Men and change their tune to Beethovans 9th Symphony which I believe is said to be the National Anthem of European Union Countries which Turkey is joining soon, I guess! Suddenly the Musicians start up with EU Anthem and its in Turkish as well as German ... and the song continues until forever .. why are they teasing me! I guess because I forgot to mention ... MOZART .. So Hello! Mozart! Happy 200th Birthday MOZART and hope you enjoyed your Birthday Party in Europe . why wasnt I invited! Thanks Onder Dil Language School, Eskisehir, Turkey for the wonderfully engaging video clip and it proved a great success this morning and an asset to my cultural engagements with Turkey! Wow!
