Steganography is the art
of hiding the information within the carrier file such as image, audio, etc. in such a way
that the carrier would
appear as an ordinary file to the intruders.
Applications of
steganography include protection against detection (data hiding) &
protection against removal (watermarking and fingerprinting) that seem to hold
promise for copyright protection, tracing source of illegal copies, etc.
Information Hiding using Steganography
& Steganalysis is based on providing the highly private and
secure data transfer without third party intervention. The concept of
this is the secret data to be hidden will be accepted from the user and will be
encrypt and then embed into the carrier file after performing suitable
transformation. This will in turn make it difficult for the intruder to detect
the presence of data. Only the intended recipient will be able to retrieve the
data using the process of Steganalysis.
The purpose of
steganography is to implement the tool which will embed a secret message
(which might be a copyright mark, or a covert communication, or a serial
number) in a cover message (such as an audio recording, or digital images, or
the video files, etc) and provide the highly private and secure data transfer
without third party intervention.
