Nutritution food for Arthritis patients.
There are about 60 to 70 percent arthritis patients all over the world. Many laboratories are carrying out research to supplement the nonsteriodal anti-
inflammatory drugs (NSAID) with food materials. The researchers have found that the following food materials are suitable.
Researchers have established that Omega-3s fatty acid, when taken, is converted into large variety of compounds which include resolvins.This compound brings to a halt of the degradation of the inflammatory tissues. Omega-3s fatty acid is available in variety of fishes like salmon,trout, mackerel, tuna,sardines and herring. Consumption of omega-3s fatty acid will reduce the intake of nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAID). To get the benefit, one has to take about 3 ounces of fish every week. Fish oil can also be taken in lieu of fish in consultation with doctor.
Olive oil is another food material which helps to reduce inflammation. This oil contains a compound, called oleocanthal, which prevents the growth of COX1and COX2 enzymes. Non steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs such as, ibuprufen and aspirin works in a similar way. According to researchers, 50ml of olive oil is equivalent to 200mg tablet.of ibuprofen.
Milk also contains an inflammation fighter. The milk available in all grazing animals including cow, have a fatty acid , called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) .This blocks the pathway of triggering inflammation thus prevents the damage of the joints. 3 to 4 servings of milk and diary products should be taken to get the most benefit.
Because of high purine content, the arthritis patient should not consume beans, peas, mushroom,spinch and couliflower.
From various research papers and study, it can be concluded that an arthritis patient should take good servings of fish which contains omega-3s fatty acid, Olive oil and Milk and diary products to avoid taking nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).
