Istanbul Fare - Turkish Digest

Website Abstract by: SM THOMPSON

Turkish digest blogged the delights of Turkish cuisine near Aya Sofia and other areas close to Sultan Ahmet .. the Blue Mosque
and close onto the Bosphorus .. sounds delightful and the blog continues with the Turkish delights and emphasises that a chef won lst prize in Istanbul for creating these delightful dishes available in Istanbul!
More important is the fact that I too, participated in the delightful dishes available at my hotel and its adjoining restaurant and I had a series of enjoyable dishes all of which did not disturb my diet or my obvious intention to have a room at the Hotel Ilkey to do some writing ... but I was equally well refreshed with these delightful dishes and my special favourite was chicken and potatoes .. the staff were helpful friendly and to my exchange in Turkish correctly I hasten to add, I got an exact reply in meaning and pronunciation in English!  My hotel Ilkay in Sirkeci charmed us us with stories of the Sultans of Bakirkoy and his shennagians and lots of research material for the writer and poet ... and of course Hemingway stayed in Istanbul around the time Ataturk founded modern Turkey so I was completed updated on Turkish and European history. I did enjoy "chai" - Turkish tea ... very refreshing in a hot dusty afternoon in Istanbul and I did my walkabout from one side of the hotel to the other and caught sight of an American sitting outside our hotel staring at me (why! - am I famous!) some Irish girls sitting on the bottom step of the stairs all the way upto my hotel room so look forward to best selling list in Istanbul! Rock Me www.amazon.com
But to add to the Turkish blog on Istanbul food .. I add my Congratulations to the Chefs at this hotel - great food, great fare, and I had a simply wonderful holiday .... in Istanbul .. see you soon ... nice work!
