Great Cliffs
Weyr is a Pern based role-playing site. It is set far into the
future of the planet. Here on the Western Continent lays
Great Cliffs Weyr, populated for countless generations as it defends the islands that surround it. As the story unfolds the Weyrs are dying out for the lack of queens. Gambling on the fact it worked once before, a group of dragonriders goes back two Hundred Turns and asks for the assistance from those of the past. They require some of the metallic hued
dragons, golds, bronzes and even browns, to come with them and help repopulate Great Cliffs Weyr. Agreeing to go, four
groups jump forward in time to the
present. Only two of the groups make the jump successfully. In the middle of their second Turn in the present, their future, there was an unexpected Threadfall. It was not due for another two Turns, and so not on the charts. The Weyr rose to meet it, suffering only minor causalities. However it proved to the Weyrleaders they were not quite ready to face their ancestral enemy. That was Two Turns ago.The Turns have passed, and clutches have been laid to hatch into dragons. Now there are three healthy queen dragons living in Great Cliffs Weyr, the population of dragonriders hovering around two hundred fit to fight the Thread. On this, the beginning of their fourth Turn in the present-future, many have fallen by the wayside yet others thrive, gaining friends, lovers and even weyrmates. The Red Star cometh, it’s threatening gaze hanging heavy in the heavens. This time they are ready… This is a loose canon site, with a few mutation colors and two groups not seen within the annals of McCaffery’s books, the Guardians and the Shadow Syndicate. Though one is benevolent and the other nefarious, some believe they might be fighting for the same cause. Others wonder if they are not the same group, a civil war between them. However, the Syndicate has been in existence for far greater number of Turns than the Guardians have… so who are they?www.avidgamers.com/gcw
