This little web site has access to a large database of MUDs, games that are otherwise known as Multi-User Dungeons. Places
where you run around chat, role play but most kill stuff and get more powerful while exploring the world created. Most of the MUDS in this database are text based but there are also some graphical muds. Most of the MUDS are also free but there are also some pay to play muds that advertise on the site.
The site also comes with articles about MUDS, how to run them, reviews of the best ones available and other such related information. There are also some links to sites where you can get software to play MUDS, although must computers come with a telnet
program that does quite nicely most of the time.
The site has a very good
search engine for finding the types of MUDS that you'd like to play, you can enter program language that the MUD uses, the language that the MUDs is in and also many many other choices like the degree of player kill or roleplaying. There is also an option for randomly choosing a MUD link for the bored.
This site is quite big and is well maintained, I have visited the site on and off for some 6 years now and the site has always been able to provide me with access to quick free entertainment in the form of a Multi-User Dungeon or two. Another bonus about this web site is the fact that it is extreamly easy to navigate with all the options on the left hand side.
If you are new to the world of MUDS then don't click away just so fast, there are also articles that explain what MUDS are, the history of MUDs, MUD culture and also the search engine can also help you find newbie friendly MUDs to try out. The site also has an option where you can vote for your favorite MUD, hopefully attracting more players to the place and thus making the MUD you like to play ever better. Oh one last comment, this web site also has listings for MUSHes MOOS and other such oddities, if you don't know what they are well head over to the site and it will all be explained.
