"TimeSplitters: Future PERFECT"
The TimeSplitters series has given a new twist on First-Person-Shooters (FPS) since the release of TimeSplitters 1. The series allows the player to chose from over a dozen game modes, over 100 playable characters, and a big arsenal of weapons from different time periods. This is the lastest installment into the series, and it carries these traits forward into FPS gaming nearly perfectly.
Because most people are aware of Halo2 and have played Halo2, I will compare this game to that in several categories, including graphics, sound, gameplay, and replay-ability.
GRAPHICS: 9/10 TimeSplitters: Future Perfect is known for more cartoon-styled characters (a fat midget with scrawny arms and legs as a character). Not many games can compare with Halo2, but this game comes close. The scenery in some of the levels is outstanding (the haunted mansion, for one). Many levels include well-detailed areas to enhance the gameplay (on a child''s chalkboard in the haunted mansion "Help us" is written. There are also beds with knives in them representing where the people hid under their covers, and were stabbed to death).
SOUND: 10/10 I could listen to the sounds of the disco all day! There is a different song for each level, and you can choose which song to play during multiplayer. The gun sounds seem real, and hearing the characters scream when they perish is most pleasing. The sounds of the vehicles, and the people talking make you think you are right there in Siberia, or in the futuristic Robot Wars.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10 This game is exceptionally fun. I find this game easier to pick up and play than Halo2, as you can play multiplayer against bots for a few minutes, when you are alone. This game also has online capabilities, allowing for endless fun. The campaign mode will keep you busy for quite a while, and there is more to the game than that! There are leagues and challenges that add LOADS of gameplay to TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. The highest award is platinum, but it takes lots of practice to get that high.
REPLAY-ABILITY: 100/10 That is right, 100 out of 10. This game includes single player campaign, and co-op campaign, each with three difficulties. You have the leagues and challenges, all of which go as high as a platinum medal. There is multiplayer (against bots, if you want, or humans), and online capability. Each multiplayer level has more than one mode of play. You can play Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Virus, Assault, Vampire, Thief, and more! There is also a map mapmaker, that allows you to make your own maps. Unlike Halo2, which gets boring if you have no one to play with, this game will keep you busy for hours on end. I STILL have to unlock all the characters.
Overall, this is a game that most people can get into very easily, and it will be one that I keep, until I am too old to see the TV screen. I highly recommend this game.
