Text based games aren't
dead yet.... but maybe undead...
I have just started playing the multi-player
game urban dead. Its a
free browser based
zombie game in which you play as a human or zombie. This is a good zombie game at its finest. Ever since I started playing it I have been additiced to it and I am constantly checking up on my character. You have a real feeling of survival when playing this game.
Although there are not pretty graphichs, and your interaction is limited to a certain amount of Action Points (AP) it is great. Your main goal in the game is to survive, but different people will want to do different things. Being that you can play as a human or a zombie you have many options that you can do. Do you want to barricade yourself in a building and hope zombies don't come and attack you or you may just want to hunt some down. As a zombie you may just want to hunt humans down. Whats really neat about it is everyone is balanced getting 50 AP to start and gaining back 1 AP every half-hour. Your action points are everything in this game, a level 40 character could get killed by a level 2 zombie if he is not lucky. What also is cool is there is full player vs. player, there are no computer controlled zombies, its just you against other people. I was also surprised about the big community this game has. There is a whole wikipedia dedicated to this game where you can get maps of the city and barricade plans. This is mainly a text and button based game though, so if you're looking for those shiny 3D graphics, then this is not the game for you. If you're looking for a lot of fun and something you can play a little bit everyday then this game is awesome.
Give Urban Dead a try, its free and loads of fun. If you don't like it well atleast you don't like it cause you tried it.
