Travian is a
browser game (meaning you play it straight from your browser, no downloading included) that features a
world with thousands of other real players. The goal is to reach to the level where you can finally take on and defeat the Natars, the believed best warriors during those times. Travian offers three types of tribes: Romans, Gauls and Teutons which the user can choose from. It gives you a 60sec. tutorial on what to expect and the ability to choose which server you play on.
The game begins a newbie off with an uninteresting, poor excuse of a village which he is then told to develop. The newbie Guide, an overweight middle-age man with an odd sense of humour and a gambling problem (evident in the way he throws away your hard earned 200 crops on rat) helps you through 22 steps in getting your village to at least look like a village. Or something like that.
It must be understood that this is a patience game. It is very time consuming! Sometimes your resources are so low that all you can do is wait. Sometimes you're left waiting for hours, other times for days! If you want to reach to the point where you can war on unsuspecting players and destroy their village thereby knocking them out of the game then you have to work hard and be patient. And pray. Afterall YOU could become someone's unsuspecting prey which is why you need to develop your village defenses and crops as fast as
possible. Luckily a newbie has 7 days beginner protection before he can be attacked. I'll advise you to get an alliance as fast as possible.
How to win? BE AN ACTIVE PLAYER, DEVELOP YOUR VILLAGE DEFENSES AND OFFENSE ABILITY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, WAR OFTEN AND LIVE MERRY OFF YOUR NEIGHBOUR INABILITY TO PROTECT HIMSELF! MAKE THE NAME OF YOUR VILLAGE BE REMEMBERED LONG AFTER YOU LEAVE THE BLASTED GAME. And remember, ITS ONLY A GAME!
