Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the fifth game of the popular series Grand Theft Auto (GTA) released in summer 2005 by Rockstars Games. It is about a game of gangster content unfolding in the virtual cities of Los Santos, Las Venturas and San Fierro, with surroundings reminding of California.
In the last chapter of the series (Grand Theft Auto Vice City) Carl Johnson left his city (Los Santos), a corrupt city, with gangs, drugs and a high degree of criminality. Somewhere at the beginning of the 90s he comes back to Los Santos of San Andreas and is told that his mother is dead, his family is falling into pieces and his childhood friends have taken the wrong path, while himself is involved in a homicide. The character under the player''s control is that of Carl Johnson''s (CJ) and the player''s goal is to assume control of the streets, journeying a long way throughout the whole state of San Andreas.
This edition of the game is about 5 times bigger than the previous (Vice City) and includes a greater number of cars and pedestrians with a higher IQ, excellent graphical representations (lighting effects, weather phenomena, facial details of the characters etc.), a great deal of primary missions (96 in total) which should be correctly accomplished, in order to advance to the next level, many secondary missions, such as the taxi, the ambulance, the police patrol vehicle, the fire truck, which already existed, while a few new ones have been added, such as the hotel carpark attendant and the truck driver. Besides, one of the pluses of the game is the rich collection of music soundtracks, which make it more attractive.
The game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has a much higher degree of difficulty than that of Vice City and it is likely that the player will need much more time to finish it. However, the greater length of the missions makes it more impressive and exciting as a video game.
