PRICE TO INDIAThursday, India minister of defence
returned from Moscow, Russia. Both countries agree in mothership
transaction price for India NAVY used. The mothership, Admiral Gorshkov
belong to Russia Navy is sold to India In 2004 and handled by
Rosoboronexport company retain because of fund. Russia seems to have
hard time to maintaining the
ship in long term. They offered to India
for sale and India agree to buy. The purchase contract is also
including ship
refurbishment for USD 970 million. Because the ship
itself already serve the Russia Navy for 30 year, the refurbishment
cost raised to USD 1,2
billion at 2007.
Russia have re-proposed the
refurbishment cost raising to India but the minister detain the
information about the final price. He couldn’t determined the exact
price before discussing with council.
He said that the ship
need many
reconstruction before handled to India at earlier 2011. Admiral
Gorshkov will change name to INS Vikramaditya. It have a dead weight
about 44,570 tonnes. The ship will be ready at 2010 and need 18 months
of sea test-run before handheld to India Navy. It will equip with
modern weapons including 16 MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters jet and anti subs
choppers. It will replace INS Viraat, in servicing India Navy force for
few years ahead.
Just note, India’s
military product
almost 80 % supply from Russia. Other’s from UK, France and United
States. About few year ago there was a rumour that, US built F-26
Stalma, the next generation multirole stealth fighter put India armed
forces as their potential buyer and user. Even tough the US defence
department denied the news.
India is still tendering the supplier to
renew their weaponry equipment from Russia and western built. The
project values about USD 13 billion dollars such as USD 10 Billion for
126 jet fighters, USD 2 billion for artillery and the rest for 317
helicopters. The political and military escalation both with Pakistan
and China near future force them to increase their performance.
