Associated Press blogged tonight to let us know that the muse of John Betjemen's love poem ... Joan Hunter Dunn has passed away at 90 something in England and she was described by them as a "lovely lady"... She was eager to give John Betjemen permission to use her name in his love poem .. and the words of the poem are included as follows ...

/Love thirty ... Love-forty ...Oh! weakness of my joy! ... The speed of the swallow ... The grace of the boy ...With carefulness carelessness ... I am weak from your love ... June Hunter Dunn/

The period that is described was one of sartorial elegance and dressing for dinner attending village dances ..and meeting for drinks around 6 pm  ..  etiquette - reflections of a bygone age/

Lovely poem by John Betjemen ... Joan Hunter Dunn died in a Nursing Home at 92 and is being cremated and buried at All Saints Church Headley England ....... sorry to see you go ... your memory clings to me . like a shadow on the wall!   Great blog from Associated Press .. keep on working!
