Madagascar - an isolated
island about two times the size of Arizona - has the biggest biodiversity in the world. There are approximately 200,000
species found in Madagascar, almost 150,000 are endemic, which means they only exist there. More than 50 types of Lemur, 99% of the species of frogs and 36 types of birds which are unique to the island. Madagascar is home to 100% of the lemures on earth, half the species of chameleons, 6% of the frogs, and no toads. Some of the species found in Madagascar are more similar to species found in the South Pacific and South America than those found in Africa.
