Rameswaram
Rameswaram is a most ancient holy place in south India. The hereditary
habit of worshipping the god in three forms namely “Moorthy, Sthalam and theertham’ in India has been worshiped in common figure incase of Rameswaram. Rameswaram is considered as one of the twelve Jyothir Lingams in India. The Rameswaram shrine shines like a place where the great Bharath from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Bengal to Bombay and beyond that coverage on this place to foster the national integration and unity.
The Jyothir Lingams in Rameswaram temples setup by the side of Sri Visalakshi Ambigai Sannithi was established by Vubeeshna.
Rameswaram is an island. The rail bridge built upon this narrow sea connects Pamban railway station with Mandapam railway Station.
Rameswaram is situated in the North-East of Pamban and Dhanuskodi in South-East of Pamban. The Dhanuskodi Railway line was destructed in the cyclone from Pamban station.
Rameswaram is as old as the Ramayana. The temple nearer to the sea on the coast of Island is renounced for its magnificent three corridors with massive sculptured pillars lining them. The temple is 865 feet long and 657 feet width. The ceiling is supported by stone beams of 49 feet long. The sanctum is built of polished granite stones. Rameswaram contains many theerthams each one is associated with some God or Saint.
