What is the ultimate luxury in this world? There was a time, when clear distinction
could be made between the rich and the poor even so many aspects of life of today were missing.
Communication is now the catchphrase in this planet of information technology. And, because of effortless communication, commutation too has increased many folds. Traveling is indisputably a distinguishing pastime for us. Depending on the affordability, more or less people try to take up journeys for pleasure. ‘Oasis of the Seas’ is the biggest and the most expensive cruise ship in the world today. Yes, a floating city it has every possible entertainment provision for one to have full satisfaction, albeit at a cost. Let’s see some facts of Oasis of the Sea.
STX’s Finnish Shipyard in Turku delivered the ship to the Royal Caribbean Cruiseline recently. The cost involved in making the ship is 900 million euros equivalent to US $ 1.3 billion.
For a capacity of 6,360 passengers in various classes, the ship has crew strength of 2,160. It has 2700 staterooms apart from 28 loft suites. The largest suite measures 156 square meters with a balcony of 78.3 square meters.
The dimension of the ship is 360 meters in length, 47 meters wide, and 65 meters height above the waterline.
Altogether 21 swimming pools cater the service to water loving passengers when onboard. Spa, gym, casino, restaurants, shops, games along with pool surfing and rock climbing makes this ship a complete package to the luxury oriented people. For children, specially designed places have been made that includes aqua park, ride a carousal, and science lab is mentionable.
The ship is not void of nature, which is taken care of with 12,000 plants and trees to create natural atmosphere on the ship. Art admirers will have 7,000 pieces of art – for culturally concerned people, Broadway Musicals and Ice Shows fulfill the needs.
Statistically speaking, the ship has 90,000 square meters of carpet and 5,000 kilometers of electrical wiring.
On construction detail, this giant has 525,000 square meters of steel that is equal to 72 soccer fields. The gross weight of Oasis is 225,000 tons with a speed of 20.2 knots per hour that is 37.4 kilometers/23.2 miles per hour. It took two years to build the ship with thousands of workers.
