The Corporation Yahoo intends to consider an alliance with Google as one of the ways to avoid an unfriendly merger by Microsoft, reports Reuters, referring to a source familiar with the strategy of the second largest
search engine in the world. Two Reuters’ sources have declared that Yahoo considers the sum of $ 44.6 billion
offered by Microsoft to be too low.
Reuters specifies that the official memo received by Yahoo’s employees says that till now there have not been taken any decisions related to the transaction.
On 1 February Microsoft offered $ 31 for each share of Yahoo. It exceeds the market price of the search engine for 62 per cent as on 31 January. In the near future Yahoo’s management team has promised to discuss the offer of Windows.
Google has already reacted to Microsoft’s declaration by having stated that the potential deal also infringes such fundamental principles of the Internet as openness and innovations.
