Greenpeace has concluded today an act of protest in Beijing against the multinational Hewlett Packard (HP), which accuses using toxic substances in the manufacture of their laptops.
Jamie Choi, campaign director of Greenpeace, called from the place of protest to officials HP listened to the complaints of the organization, and within half an hour a head of sales of the firm came to be computers, toxic .
"It's a shame that HP, the world leader in sales, to continue releasing dangerous products to the market, despite the protests a few years ago," Choi noted, adding that "it is irresponsible to sell anything that harms the environment and human health .
According to Greenpeace, HP promised in 2007 to stop using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame-retardant agents (BFRs) in its products before the end of 2009, but recently the company announced that this decision postponed to 2011.
PVC plastic is one of the most damaging to the environment and can form dioxin, a carcinogenic substance.
Greenpeace pointed out that other multinationals such as Apple, Dell, Lenovo and Acer have it completely finished with the use of BFRs and almost entirely of PVC.
