Security lapse
Two young girls in their early twenties and an
air conditioned mechanic drove past the security cordon of Prime Minister Office on July,28,2006. They were detained at reception counter when they failed to show any prior appointment with PMO. Preliminary
investigation says that there was no ill motives behind it. It is mere adventurism and
fantasies of youth to meet high profole person like Prime Minister.
A detailed investigation is still to come out. How the security was so casual to allow them to pass seeing their attire and appearance only is a big question?
Terrorism is now global threat. Recent bomb explosion in Mumbai is now fresh in
everybody's mind. Did this incident imply that let alone the common people, even high
profile persons like Prime Minister, President, Ministers who are well protected by top
class security personnel are insecured? Are not the terrorists more professional, more
organised, more dedicated and equipped with more sophisticated weapons?
Are not there a lot of loop holes, amateurism in our top class security so that terrorist can
merrily drive their operation?
Police already brought a charge of trespass against one of the girls since she used fake
name and told that she is the niece of Prime Minister. All of them were released in bail.
Their employer Air Shara just washed off their hands by dismissing them from their
services on the plea that this is not within their norms to tolerate indecent behavior of
employees even beyond office hours. They may be imprisoned upto six months or even more
if they are convicted.
