Dear readers; the purpose for English learners, is to be able to speak and listen clearly, so that the number of people interested on these skills day by day has been increased . It is because nowadays to be bilingual is important for many foreigners who residing in the U.S, including people around the world that are dedicated on business, schools, and other congregations. That’s way ESL has created many different courses to facility your activities learning English. “Academic Listening and Speaking 0710” is one of many courses that are designed to develop the academic listening and speaking skills of ESL students. Emphasis will be placed on listening to lectures, note taking, speaking in academic situations, and practicing pronuntation skills. This course is divided in two parts. Listening and Speaking. Both of them have different extensive contents depends your preference point for example; I would like to show you some of this points that I considered interesting. One is to learn to identify
vocabulary meanings from listening contexts, Identify the main idea and the support of a lecture, write summaries and auto lines of
information from lectures, use symbols and abbreviations for note-taking, and write answers to write questions. These are some of them. Moreover if your problem is to speak, I also would like to mention some of the major points that you can find in speaking content such as; use new vocabulary in speaking situations using correct grammatical and context forms, answer questions orally using correct verbs and forms, recognize stress and intonation, pronunciation to be practiced, ask for directions, give directions using new vocabulary, and present factual information using cause/effect form and vocabulary.
