Introduction Google is a word that has become synonymous with Internet searching. Looking for something on the net, go to Google is the most common phrase. So is Google really worth all that much?
The Google Philosophy Ever seen ants at work. Lots of small ants contributing ever so little to the group and the final results are fantastic group effort. Similarly, the Google philosophy of networking lots of lower end computers connected together working distributively at a query to find the query in the quickest possible time. And my personal experience is Google is the fastest search engine around.
Why Google? The popularity of Google is primarily due to the following reasons:
1)The fastest search engine around.
2)Huge search database. Any article you are searching for, Google will find it for you.
3)Google separates the searches into categories, which is pretty helpful in separating Search queries, Image queries and Newsgroup queries.
4)Google allows integration with other sites to use its search database for their search engines.
Added Attractions 1) Feeling Lucky: Feeling Lucky is a nice new concept with Google, where google will directly redirect you to the site it feels that you are looking for. And if you are lucky that is the site you are looking for.
2) Multiple Sections: Google has introduced different sections for searches to Images, Groups and directories. This concept helps you to confine your search to exactly what kind of data you are looking for.
Why Not Google? The only drawback that I think I can associate with Google is that Altavista seems to get more valid hits with non-technical (read non-computer) issues.
Google Whacking Ever tried Google Whacking. Google whacking is the art of firing a query on Google which would result in exactly one result. Pretty easy, isn’t it. Just try it once. J
Winding Up Google to my opinion is the best search engine around. Kudos to the Google development team for such an exhaustive search engine.
