1936 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India as Sir Dorabjee Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In the year 1944 it was renamed as Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)and was recognized by University Grants Commission of India (UGC) in 1964.This website provides information about various Graduate, Post Graduate, Certificate & Diploma courses, M Phil & PhD Courses in Social Sciences. Graduate Course includes BA in Social work and its Syllabus. Post Graduate Courses include Masters Degree in Education, Administration, Development Studies, Resource Management & Labor Relations, Personal Management & Industrial Relations and also Master of Arts in Social Work.Research Section includes there Extensive work in the field of HIV/AIDS and also some Research Reports on Floods, Farmer sucides, Tsunami Experience, Crime in the City etc.Field Action Projects include social responsibility of the teaching institutes, these projects which are carried out at community level are to demonstrate new interventions, responding to new needs and changing social realities, evolve new strategies for intervention etc. Continuing Education includes Training Programmes, UGC Refresher Courses, and NSS Programmes.The Study in India Programme provides an opportunity for Students from Abroad to study and experience various aspects of social work and social sciences in Indian Context.Learning Resources include Library (also separately for women), Documentation cell, Computer Centre etc.There is also interesting sections of Films and Publications on the website.Other sections of this website includes Aluminates Community, Press Releases, Announcements ,Event Calendar, Picture Gallery & Of course Job Opportunities in the field of Social Sciences.
