Window system is a widely used windowing system, especially in
UNIX ® system, and its inheritance like
GNU/Linux or
FreeBSD. X-Window is the registered trade mark of Open Group, who owned X.
org Foundation which supports the development of the system.
Operating systems like
GNU/Linux depends on X-Window system to run their
programs properly in graphical mode. Although this set of library and programs has the newest
version (Release 7), but the majority of Linux distributions still using Release 6 (the stable version).
