VMware is a computer resources
virtualization technology. It allows one physical machine to run multiple independent
operating systems regardless of their nature. These may be systems by Microsoft and any Linux, Unix or OS-X systems.
They are completely independent virtual machines, which can have a separate hardware resources, network addresses, assigned their own virtual switches or the physical network card (ESX and ESXi servers). Due to the wide application
virtualization it is possible to create both individual machines independent of each other and the whole virtual
infrastructure acting as the complete production environments. The solution helps companies reduce the number of the purchase of computer equipment and the cost of its operation. In this technology backup machines, files, the ability to create, play and build on existing virtual machine does not pose problems, making it much easier to create great opportunities, modernization and expansion of the IT infrastructure by reducing time and costs needed to carry out these tasks. The VMware technology gives a very large virtualization capabilities on each scale, both in small and powerful solutions that require many independent structures of platforms. This is achieved while the cost of investing in equipment that will be running the virtualization enviroment (large infrastructure required for the high resource disk, memory and CPU), but this investment is extremely low compared to the cost of expansion of the IT infrastructure of the physical servers.
VMware allows you to fully secure the virtual environment allowing backup files from both operating systems as well as individual images of entire virtual environments.
This technology allows the use of High Availibiliy which cluster technology gives us security against the failure of one or more servers, the technology allows for VMotion to migrate virtual machines between ESX servers without shutdown of the virtual machines, which ensures continuity of operating systems, implemented on the environment. Another feature is to allow DRS balance resource consumption of each server by VMotion depending on the current burden of physical servers and set of rules.
