Female athlete sets new shot put record at age 100
Many of us were not aware of the World Master Games,
where anybody can participate unlike the Olympics Games. It started in the Canadian city of Toronto in the year 1985. since then the games have been conducted six time in different countries that commenced in Sydney, Australia. This is the 7th event, also is being held in Australia for the third time.
The non-restrictive age limit and other liberal criteria have made world masters a popular even among it s participants all over the world. It is unbelievable that at the age of 100 years one can play a part in a world athletics championship. Participation itself at this age is enough for any person to deserve a reward, and for Ruth Frith, throwing of shot-put ball 4.2 meters is an extraordinary feat. There was no other competitor in this category of age-100, and being the only participant she could easily take it lightly with just a throw maintaining the disqualification factors. However, she showed her resilience by throwing a record distance of 4.2 meters, which is a record in this category of World Masters Games. Apart from Shot put, she is also good in Hammer and Javelin throw.
Ruth, the great grandmother is from Brisbane, Australia. For keeping fit, she regularly train herself with lifting 35 kg five days in a week. She refrains from smoking and drinking, but the one habit she maintains since her childhood is unusual. She does not like vegetables and does not eat too since her youth. The first time she participated in the World Masters Championship is at the age of 74. her determination is strong and she has no plan to retire from the games in the near future, she told Reuter Television.
