Secrets of the Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu at your finger tips brought to you not from the eternal spirits or the mystic cosmos, but instead from the World Wide Web. In my never ending search to bring wisdom, knowledge, and enlightenment to the readers of SHVOONG, I have discovered the
Secrets of the Shaolin Monks—ancient and highly respected as the most powerful and inventive martial arts community in the history of the Far East and in fact, the world.
This web
site is dedicated to Lam Sai Wing, considered by most to be the greatest fighter of the early part of the twentieth century. Lam Sai Wing wrote three
books which dealt with explaining the 72 secrets of the Shoalin Monks. These books have now been translated into English and through this
website are available to anyone. In the old days no one but a person of Chinese descent could study this style of Kung Fu, but now the books of fighting wisdom have been opened to the world.
This web site, purely visually, is a little bit cluttered. It has three columns cascading down the screen. The outer columns are filled with a mixture of pictures of monks, Chinese characters, and numerous links to individual
information you might want to read up on. I have never seen a website with more information about its topic. Truly cluttered, but absolutely jammed packed with writings about Kung Fu styles. The color scheme is primarily red; however, even this is not uniform as greens, violets, yellows, and browns are also used to add emphasis and draw attention to individual ideas. This website is trying to do too much, but if you love Kung Fu you’re going to have hours of fun reading all of the different links.
Now, running down the middle of the site is the 72 secrets of the Shaolin. Each one of these secrets is of course an entire discourse in and of itself, but let me give you three samples of what they begin like: Jin Zhusa Zhang—the palm with iron grasp, Jin Gou Shou—the iron hook-like arm, Wa Yan Shou—the
hand tearing out eyes.
Come on, hand tearing out eye, it doesn’t get any better than that for lethal martial arts. If you want to know hand to hand combat at it’s highest level, at its most lethal and most extreme, you need to checkout this website. I give it a 5 star rating, because it really has no end to information, some very cool photographs, and come on
Monks who tear out eyeballs!
