Coalesce ERP System efficiently into ODL System: An Indian Perspective
Indian economy and an academic institution are witnessing a transitioning phase. The accountability of Open and Distance learning (ODL) system is consequently, exceptionally imperative in this paradigm. With the initiation of Enterprise Resource Planning System, which is a part of Information & Communication Technology (ICT), ODL system has increased multiple. The specific objective of this paper is to study and demonstrate how efficiently the pattern of availability and use of ERP System by the Indian universities, which are in the distance mode, fulfill the educational goals. The paper intends to address about the current assessment practice and proposes an ERP System implementation model. The motive of this model is to integrate ERP System and to remedies some of the shortcomings before, during and after its implementation. The article also explores and coalesce ERP system as a very useful supportive tool in academic environments.  The findings of this study will be constructive to distance mode universities as well as other partner universities, the enrichment of the programme and also, in identifying ways and means of adapting ODL methods to suit the local conditions. Overall endeavor of this paper is to take care of the institutions of ODL systems that are broaden across the globe, so to triumph over the artificial boundaries and thus to bind these two system (ERP & ODL) together to function in harmony.
